Esa Tamminen bought this 1750 GTV in Urjala autumn 1982. The car was then in reasonable driving condition. It was painted due a small rear side accident in 1983. Car was removed from ragistry on August 25th, 1997. The renovation work started in autumn 2003, then the car was stripped to the bones. Esa brought the chassis to paintshop after heavy sandblasting and renovation work in summer 2004, with comment "no hurry". This caused that the chassis was stored at the paintshop for seven (7) years! S. Nyström's paintshop is welknown of good work results, and with hurry you do not get good results, but.. Any way the paintwork was finished on September 19th, 2011 and the real restauration work was started. Interior was re-build completely, only 2 side panels at rear was left original.
Esa did the restoration work himself. Only upholstering work of the seats was done by a professional and of course the paintwork also. This project ended late in summer 2012. The car was also accepted into the Finnish Historical Car Registry (Museoautorekisteri) on September 7th 2012. and has now its original black plates HKC-36. |
